Because there are so many Web-savvy scrapbook supply designers today, there's an abundance of free scrapbook papers. As long as you know how to do a Web search and download files, you can find all the materials you need to create beautiful scrapbooks. That caused famous artist Mary Englebreit to remark recently that the Web is a great source of digital scrapbook images that will yield nearly anything you might need. And she should know about good images; products carrying her designs on them fly off the shelves as soon as they're released!

Babies and Kids

Like weddings, the birth and growth years of a baby often generate a lot of pictures. And, of course, scrapbookers love to use those photos to create family heirlooms. Fortunately, this can be done for next to nothing using just scrapbook materials from the Internet. If you're not up on baby images, however, you might be surprised to learn that the colors are less traditional than they used to be. Burnt orange, chocolate brown and red are all the rage, as well as a few specific shades of green. Blue and pink are still popular, of course, but these days there are many bold color choices too. And for older children, there is a lot of free clip art that portrays a range of special interests, such as ballet images and football clipart.

Vintage

More and more people seem to be searching for antique scrapbooking materials. That could be because vintage art is so timeless and creates such classic-looking results. Greeting cards from times long gone make great vintage scrapbooking embellishments, as do clipart images from years gone by. And when you can find digital scrapbooking papers made from compilations of vintage images, you'll experience digital meeting traditional in a beautiful and useful way. Antique images also cover a wide variety of subjects, which means you can find images as diverse as Victorian fashion illustrations, magic show posters, cigar labels, vintage flower clipart, vintage nautical art and historical sailing ships. So whatever the topic of your scrapbook, there's probably vintage art to match.

Holiday

Holidays just naturally invite the creation of scrapbooks, since those are the times we gather with friends and family to create special memories. And Christmas, Easter, Halloween and Valentine's Day aren't the only holidays that make people want to create scrapbooks; many people are interested in the minor holidays too. You can find lots of patriotic scrapbooking papers and embellishments on the Web for holidays such as Veterans Day, Fourth of July, Memorial Day and Flag Day. There is also environmental clipart for Earth Day, as well as images suitable for Mother's Day, Father's Day and just about any other holiday you can think of; even the silly or off-beat ones.

Flowers and Butterflies

I've definitely noticed that scrapbookers love flowers, and why not? They work for nearly any occasion. Butterflies attract a large audience too, because they represent summertime, freedom, happiness and other cheerful things. Flowers and butterflies are also diverse, because you can find them in both illustration and photographic form, and in modern and vintage forms. You can even find free butterfly scrapbooking paper that sometimes even have coordinating modern and vintage designs available in the same collections.

Weddings

Weddings and scrapbooks were naturally made to go together, because couples usually have at least one photo wedding album. But if you can make it a wedding scrapbook instead, you can offer an even more creative way to preserve your precious memories. There is a surprisingly good selection of wedding scrapbooking images on the Internet that will allow you to create a lasting memento for little or no cost. And if you can't find any specifically for weddings, flower images can also give you a pretty look.
